Going to revive this blog, even though life is pretty hectic right now.  I am waiting for my BMT date to arrive- I've joined the Air Force Reserve.  I will be away from February through September.  Then as soon as I get back I will be attending school- preferably Rutgers University-Camden.  I will keep everyone updated about that.  This is my craft and reading blog though- and I plan to get back doing crafty things.  If you are interested in my Air force adventures or just life and school in general, then my other blog is for you-

Recent Stuff

I've been up to some things- I've been reading more than ever lately, and knitting too (with some crafting thrown in there too)

First up:  I am working on what I call the Gal-Friday scarf.  It is going to be killer when its done.  Hoping to rock it this fall- Pattern can be found here:  Garter stitch loop through scarf  (must be a ravelry member to see)

Also- I am working on these Pocket-book slippers.  Gonna be cute too if all goes according to plan.  This is my first rodeo with this pattern.  Pattern is here:  Pocketbook Slippers

Two weeks ago was my girlfriend's baby shower for which I made this:

It took a little bit of creativity and a lot of patience, but I made a Diaper Carriage for her with some goodies inside.  I am needing to get my butt in gear because I plan on making her a blanket in titme for baby's arrival.  She is technically due 9/22- but no way she is making it that long.  LOL I gotta pick a pattern and get on it like YESTERDAY!

In the meantime, I've also been reading:
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (Millennium, #3)

I'm loving it so far!  Ok, so thats all for now.....

Book Review

Ok, since I've been on a reading kick lately, I've signede up on  Very cool website.  I've read two of the three books in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.  Here are the first two reviews from Goodreads.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, sick, twisted, perverted, mind blowing, and intoxicating...don't know how to describe this book. At first I thought it was painfully slow, but now I realize the setup was crucial to the story. Once you get to the thick of it, there is a lot of information packed on each page that is both excrutiatingly exhausting and yet exhilarating to read. A real page turner once you get immersed in the good stuff.

***If you have difficulty reading long passages about violence against women, this book is NOT for you. But what seems like a sleepy financial murder mystery turns into something much more. Can't wait to see the movie and read the next one!

The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium, #2)The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, the more you find out about Lisbeth Salander, the more you feel for her. This book was impossible to put down! Now to get my hands on Book 3!
